Dar Al Atta’a Association (DAA) inaugurated (Green Houses) two agricultural reserves sponsored by the Dutch community in The Sultanate in the state of Bidbid under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Hamoud bin Ali Almarshoodi Wali of Bidbid on the 3rd of January 2017.
The idea of the Green houses was initiated by DAA and then developed see the light, it involves the cultivation of vegetables, various types and then marketed after production in the domestic market. The space of the two green houses is 720 square meters.
The target group involved in the project is the individuals with intellectual disabilities and motor disabilities who were not able to be engaged in the labor market, so as to invest their potential according to their productivity requirements in order to create a source of living for them
Honorable Maryam Al Zadjali, DAA- Chairperson: “The Green Houses initiative started in the beginning of July last year; Al Wafa Center for Disabled has been selected to execute the project because of the expertise already available within the center in this field. The cost of the project was about RO 11,000 out of which RO 10,000 was sponsored by the Dutch community in The Sultanate and we would like to thank them for their support.
This project aims at the development and operation of the energies of children with mental and mobility disability and who cannot work because of the lack of specialized institutes to train this category. Al Zadjali also added, the vocational rehabilitation programs is a key requirement for entrants over the age of above 16 years old, and agriculture is the best qualifying professions from both safety and success perspective, the stages of the profession is suitable for most types of disabilities from both genders are protected inside the greenhouses with its well known features, which makes it easier for people with disabilities to integrate and increase the desire of being engaged in agricultural program and turn it into a real motivation in line with their abilities and the requirements of their lives.
